Feilding is my band from college. I had to include this track because it proved to me that playing a song backwards does not only make sounds of the Devil, but can also groove...kind of. This was recorded on 2 inch Analog Tape, so rewinding bleeps are not funny protools tricks. It was just a "dude...let's mix this one down backwards" at the end of a session day.
Golden Days play
Composed by Vince Welnick
Performed by Vince Welnick on piano and vocals, Tom Lattanand on acoustic guitar.
Recorded January 2006. Excerpt from David Gans' "Dead to the World" tribute to Vince Welnick June 21, 2006.
With love to you, Vince. We'll always remember some great times. You are missed.
This track was recorded a few months before Vince passed. It was a meaningful song to him. It is hard to express in words what this recording has meant to me since that day. Stephen Barncard knew of this track, and mixed it down for David Gans to play on his Vince tribute show on the Grateful Dead Hour on KPFA. This track is recorded straight from the radio on June 21, 2006. Thank you David for doing such a beautiful tribute. This excerpt from the show includes the Grateful Dead performance of the National Anthem at a San Francisco Giants game as David transitions into Golden Days to close the tribute.
